Abortion and Depression

You are more likely to suffer from depression if you have a baby as opposed to having an abortion. It sounds like a "shock jock" line. I understand what the study says, but I am worried it will be taken the wrong way. It sounds like the point is, "It aint easy raising children." I agree with that.

FROM NBC: Women who have an abortion DO NOT have an increased risk for mental health problems, according to a new study.

Researchers in Denmark studied more than three hundred thousand women who either had an abortion or delivered a baby between 1995 and 2007.

They found those who had an abortion did not have an increased need for mental health treatment after the procedure. First-time mothers, however, did have a significantly increased treatment rate after delivery.
The most common problems were debilitating anxiety, severe stress and depression.
