How often do your kids snack? Mine are snackers, but it's usually a peanut butter banana boat or grapes or apples. They are fruit-aholics! So I don't think that's a bad thing. I have always heard it's better to have five small meals than three large ones. What do you think?
FROM NBC: New survey finds many American children are snacking more -- and skipping meals. The American Dietetic Association surveyed almost 12-hundred parent-children pairs about nutrition, eating habits and physical activity.
12 to 18-percent of children reported never or rarely eating breakfast -- which has been linked to absenteeism and lower test scores -- while a smaller percentage skipped dinner. However, more than half of children regularly snacked right after school -- and about 25-percent said they snacked after dinner or while watching T.V.
Researchers say parents and schools need to offer children healthy snacks to replace missed meals -- to be sure kids get the nutrients they need for healthy development.
