Exercise makes kids smart

I am so anxious for this weather to warm up so my kids can go outside and get some exercise. Being couped up all winter is such a drag! The sun came out today as I was walking in to work. I think it's hard to make sure your kids get enough exercise over the winter. They don't have as many opportunities to run around.

A new study finds middle schoolers who are most physically fit do best on standardized tests in reading, math, science and social studies.

725 5th graders in West Virginia were assessed for this study and were tested again in 7th grade.


Those who maintained higher levels of exercise over those two years scored highest on the tests.
Another study presented at a recent conference associated organized physical activity with lower body fat in teen girls.
