Preventing post-partum blues

It's simple. All you have to do is reach out to other news and other people in general who are on-line. It's a way you can keep your sanity when you are home by yourself all day with a newborn. Don't get me wrong, it's a great, wonderful thing, but it can also be isolating. So start your own blog, join Pinterest, Facebook, whatever. Just make sure you are talking to adults on a daily basis. Here's the research study showing new moms who blog are happier.

Preventing Post-Partum Depression

FROM NBC: A large British study finds women who get professional care at home after giving birth -- are less likely to develop post partum depression. It is common in England for health visitors to help care for new moms after they leave the hospital. When women did get visits from professional with mental health training -- their risk of postpartum depression dropped by 30-percent, compared to women getting usual care. Depression affects an estimated one in ten women after childbirth.

So don't feel like you have to hide it if you get depressed after having a baby. It's very common and it's not your fault your hormones are going nuts. I would embrace it and do what you know makes you feel better. If people offer to help care for the child while you get some rest, take them up on the offer! Sleep is a great remedy for the blues IMO.
