Chelation Warning

I am assuming chelation is not that common, but I don't know.I have talked to several parents of kids on the autism spectrum who have done it. I have heard it's pretty dangerous, but I don't know much about it. I just thought you could pass this information along to anyone who you think is considering it.

FROM NBC: The Food and Drug Administration has sent warning letters to 8 companies about their over-the-counter chelation products. Chelation is usually done under a doctor's care and is only approved for use in specific cases -- like lead poisoning and iron overload.

But now the FDA is warning some companies that their over-the-counter chelation products violate federal law because they make what the FDA says are unproven claims of treating conditions like Autism and Macular Degeneration.

Some companies that received the warning letters also claimed their products are used to detect the presence of heavy metals that would justify the need for chelation therapy.

Here is the info from the FDA website
