Hormone-Filled Milk

FROM CNN: Chinese health officials are investigating claims young girls have been experiencing pre-mature sexual development after drinking hormone-tainted milk products. Parents and doctors in China's Hubei Province say three infants, as young as four months, have been developing breasts.

The product's maker is China-based Sinutra International. But that company says hormone comes from a powder made by dairy giant Fonterra, of new zealand.
When contacted by CNN, Fonterra said there are strict legislative controls on the use of additives to promote hormonal growth. They are not allowed to be used on milking cows.

The company also said it remains 100 percent confident of its milk supplies.
Dairy safety is a sensitive issue in China. Two years ago, six children died and hundreds of thousands became ill after drinking powdered milk that contained melamine.

It is stories like this that make me start buying organic/hormone-free milk. I get on organic milk kicks and then go back to generic milk every now and then. With four boys in my house, I can't afford to get four gallons of organic milk a week!
