I think it is true that quality daycare leads to successful kids. That doesn't meant kids who aren't in childcare are not successful by any means. But I just think there is a definite benefit if it's a high quality, educational childcare center. It is basically like sending the child to school all day. What do you think?
FROM NBC: New research from the National Institutes of Health finds teens who were in high-quality childcare as young children scored slightly better on academic tests than those who'd been in lower-quality daycare. Daycare was also associated with behavior differences.
Those who spent the most time in daycare were less likely to act out -- but were a bit more likely to be impulsive and take more risks. Researchers say the differences were slight -- and that other factors could have affected the outcome. The study is one of the largest and longest running studies of its kind. More than 13-hundred children were followed from one month of age. The research is published in the May/June issue of Child Development.
