Are people getting the HPV Vaccine?

When the HPV vaccine first hit the market, there was a lot of controversy over its safety. Some parents say their young girls had a bad reaction. We haven't heard a whole lot about it in the last year or so. But that controversy could be what has lead to trailing vaccination rates. Are you giving your kids the HPV Vaccine?

FROM NBC: A new report from the Centers for Disease Control finds HPV vaccine rates are trailing other recommended vaccines for teenagers. The CDC recommends the HPV vaccine for 11 or 12 year-old girls. The vaccine is given in three doses over 6 months. HPV is a virus -- almost always sexually transmitted -- and can lead to cervical cancer. A new survey of 19-thousand teens find coverage rates for two other vaccines are higher than the HPV vaccine rate. An estimated 49-percent of teen girls have had at least one dose of the h-p-v vaccine. the coverage rate is more than 60-percent for the other two vaccines. the protect against tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis and meningococcal meningitis.
