At what age do people get married these days? You always hear about people being older and older before they tie the knot, but is it true? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention studied surveys filled out by over 12,000 adults age 15 to 44-years-old. They found over 80% of men and 86% of women will marry by the time they turn 40-years-old.
They also found women tend to marry younger than men. There is a 50% probability that women will be married by 25-years-old. For men, there's a 50% probability they will be married by 27-years-old.
17% of women and 25% of men have not married by 35-years-old.
And African American men and women are less likely to be married at age 35 than Caucasian men and women.
Past studies have shown being married leads to better physical, emotional and economic well-being. The study did not look at divorce rates-although we know they are very high!
I totally fit the statistic. I was 25 when I got married. My husband turned 27 the day after our wedding. How old were you and your spouse when you got married? Have you noticed people waiting longer to get married? I have! My best friends from high school all got married several years after me and I am the only one with children so far. (and soon to be lots of them! They probably think I am crazy with three little boys!)

I met my husband at age 19. Started dating at 20. Engaged at 25 and married 6 months later. Married for 8 years now. He is 18 months older than me.
I met my husband at 19. I will be 30 in August, he will be 35 and May 7th was our 10year annv. so we finnnaly got married. Its awesome having a family.

I haven't noticed any change.
I was 29 and my husband was 32 (his second marriage, first marriage he was 19). However, all of my friends, cousins, etc. got married young ... most around 22 or so. I was always the 3rd wheel and "Old" by the time I got married.
I met my husband at 19, he was 21. We married 10 months later and have been married for 30 years this month.
For my first wedding we were both 22... lasted 8 years.
Second marriage I was 36 and he was 38. We've passed 8 years and going strong.
My husband and I were both 19. Our 9th anniversary is next month!

I met my husband in High School at age 14, we were friends until 18 then started dating. Engaged at 20 Married at 22. I am 2 months older than my husband. Been married for 7years now. Baby came at 27.
I have known my husband my entire life, we grew up together. We started dating when I was a Freshman in High School, he was a Junior. Married when I was 23 and he was 25, been married 9 years this October. Two boys 4 and 6.
I met my husband when I was 12 and got married when I was 17. My husband was 16 when we got together, we now have been married for 22 years this year. I wouldn't change anything we have a good life together.
I got married at 22; my husband was 27. I do think people are getting married later, or at least having kids later, as my kids are teenagers and many of their peers have parents that are at least ten years older than me.
We married last October at the ages of 22 and 23. None of our friends are married yet.
I was 20 and he was 18 when we got married, we are now goin through a divorce and have 2 kids. It was the wrong time and I wish I would of waited and maybe I wouldnt be goin through what I am going through now. I doubt if I ever decide to marry again, just a bad experience for me.
I was married the first time at 21 husband was 22. Divorced a few years later. Recently married my second husband. At 37 we have been together for over 10 years. First marrage for him.
My husband turned 21 just before we got married and I turned 21 just after we were married. That was 23 years and two kids ago.
